Colour discrimination
I am dark-skinned. However, in India, it is not too dark too. In regions of high sunlight and heat, our skin produces more melanin. This melanin prevents diseases and sunburns. More the presence of melanin, darker the skin. In India, Africa and other countries, it is hereditary, as we adapt to our climate.
It hurts to realise that we Indians ourselves tease those with darker skin. Why do we allow brands to change our mentality?
It is, IMAO, stupid to first reduce the melanin in our skin, and then take treatment for skin diseases. It is a different story for those in countries with a 'fairer' complexion. Their region is such that they don't need such large amounts of melanin. But here, we need it to prevent sunburns.
Ever heard of tanning? in this, our body, due to high sunlight, creates more melanin. IT IS THE SAME THING AS DARK COMPLEXION!!
