A Study In Scarlet
Hello!
Before I start, I have a piece of good news. My blog is on Instagram! Yesterday, my dad made an account. You can follow me there for regular updates on this blog. The username is; @aanyasblog

Ever since grade 8th grade started, our English Language teacher started a 'genre of the month'. She would post a genre, and we had to read a book on it. As you probably guessed from the title, last month's genre was Mystery. I have never been a fan of mystery stories as I easily get scared. But if I had to read a story, I would rather take a good one. So I asked my mother to order a complete collection of Sherlock Holmes novels. I received the book in 2 volumes, and I started reading straight away.
The first in the series is "A Study In Scarlet". Written from sherlock Holmes' assistant Watson's point of view, the story was published in 1892, way before even my grandparents were born. While you may presume that one might find Ancient London tough to relate to or soak in, it was perfectly easy to understand the settings.
Sherlock Holmes is a consulting detective, the only one in London. When the best detectives lose hope, They come to him.
A study of scarlet is a murder mystery. A man is found dead in a flat that has been closed for a long time. The 2 Investigating officers Lestrade and Tobias Gregson come to Holmes asking for help. I was amazed at the fact that when our Protagonist turns up he gives the 2 detectives every single detail of the guilty, including the size of his nails!
What makes this even more interesting is that the murder leaves a red herring behind, and his motive could be considered as good. He was, after all, trying to get the deceased love of his life revenge! Part 2 of the story also tells us the back story of the murderer, starting from when his love and her father get rescued. I love how the author, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle has shown how not each murder was always evil. I really admired the intelligence of this prodigy detective and his quirky personality.
I would give this book 5 stars. I found it simply flawless

If I were to recommend this book I would do it to anyone in grade 8 and above. The language is slightly heavy and may be tough for younger ones to comprehend. I am attaching a picture of the book and will soon be back with a link to order it online.
